Santa Ana de los Cuatro Ríos de Cuenca, like every Latin American city that has been affected by rapid and unplanned urbanization, has empty lots in its consolidated areas. These “urban voids” are defined as spaces remaining from urban dynamics: those lands that have remained empty or underused. The presence of these empty properties brings with it various problems for the city, which are the low density in consolidated areas, the costs of providing infrastructure for remote areas that have been urbanized and the underutilization of the infrastructure already installed, in addition to the cost of transportation due to the excessive growth of the city. In the case of this project, the problem of urban voids will be addressed from the removable-recyclable construction, temporary space, ephemeral architecture or any name that indicates an assembly of structure and use that allows an alternative process to traditional construction, focused in solving an issue of occupation of these lands and construction of the city, but minding inherent issues such as sustainability in construction, the design of the architectural project, land value, gentrification, archetypes of real estate development, among others.
