dc.description.abstractThis research was carried out with the purpose of knowing the perception of parents about the forms of involvement in the educational process of their children. In our context, there is no previous research on this topic; however, there are studies at national level where it is mentioned that the involvement of parents in their children's education is fundamental for a correct educational development. For this reason, it has been considered pertinent to carry out this research with the objective of describing the forms of involvement of parents in the educational process of children in the fifth year of General Basic Education at the Emilio Abad Aguilar School in the city of Azogues. We worked with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, quantitative approach, with a sample of 58 parents representing the fifth year of General Basic Education in the city of Azogues-Ecuador. The tool designed by Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler (2012) called "Process of parental participation in school activities" was used for data collection. The most significant results are that parents' self-perception indicates that they are rarely involved in making decisions related to the school; in addition, there is little dynamic contact between parents and children, parents and teachers, and finally, parents do not know what their roles as parents are.
