dc.descriptionABSTRACT: Viral pneumonia in preschool-age children is one of the main health problems worldwide; the complications it generates can endanger the lives of patients. Early diagnosis and proper treatment are vital to minimize the complications of the disease. The objective of this research was to update the scientific information on the clinical management of pneumonia due to influenza in preschoolers. For this, a basic, descriptive and cross-sectional investigation was carried out consisting of a bibliographic review of documents published in the last 5 years. A total of 72 documents were identified, of which 46 were used in the study. The information was obtained from regional (Latindex, Lilacs, Scielo, and Redalyc) and high-impact databases (Scopus, Medline, PubMed, and Ice Web of Science). The main results include the description of the clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic manifestations of the disease. It is concluded that the diagnosis of this disease is difficult, however, it is necessary to maintain a level of permanent updating to early identify the elements of clinical suspicion of the disease; which facilitates early diagnosis and with this and adequate treatment, minimizes the risk of complications. dc.descriptionRESUMEN: La neumonía viral en niños en edad preescolar es uno de los principales problemas de salud a nivel mundial; las complicaciones que genera pueden llegar a poner en peligro la vida de los pacientes. El diagnóstico precoz y el tratamiento adecuado son vitales para minimizar las complicaciones de la enfermedad. El objetivo de esta investigación fue actualizar la información científica sobre el manejo clínico de la neumonía por influenza en preescolares. Para esto se realizó una investigación básica, descriptiva y transversal consistente en una revisión bibliográfica de documentos publicados en los últimos 5 años. Se identificaron un total de 72 documentos de los cuales 46 fueron utilizados en el estudio. La información se obtuvo de bases de datos regionales (Latindex, Lilacs, Scielo y Redalyc) y de alto impacto (Scopus, Medline, PubMed e Ice Web of Sciencie). Como principales resultados destacan la descripción de las manifestaciones clínicas, diagnósticas y terapéuticas de la enfermedad. Se concluye que el diagnóstico de esta enfermedad es difícil, sin embargo, es necesario mantener un nivel de actualización permanente para identificar precozmente los elementos de sospecha clínica de la enfermedad; lo que facilita el diagnóstico precoz y con esto y un tratamiento adecuado, minimizar el riesgo de presencia de complicaciones.
