| dc.description | ABSTRACT: The purpose of this research work was to collect and analyze academic publications through a bibliographic review on the use of nitrous oxide in dentistry, with the main objective of assessing the use of nitrous oxide in the dental area, in terms of the methodology applied in this research was descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective; Initially, 75 articles from various databases were selected, of which, after filtering based on their SJR impact factor, 53 scientific articles were used. Nitrous oxide in the dental area can be used during conscious sedation by inhaling this gas together with oxygen in people who suffer from anxiety, limiting diseases, are uncooperative and mainly in pediatric patients, providing a better experience during dental treatment. that these should receive; When used together with local anesthesia techniques, these tend to have a greater analgesic effect. It is worth mentioning that this gas can be used to treat vascular malformations of the oral cavity, leukoplakia or mucoceles through cryotherapy in order to avoid post-operative discomfort. Thus concluding that sedation is not the only function that this gas fulfills in the dental area, despite being the most used due to its various benefits in terms of ease of treatment of difficult-to-manage patients. | |
| dc.description | RESUMEN: El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como finalidad recolectar y analizar publicaciones académicas mediante una revisión bibliográfica sobre el uso del óxido nitroso en odontología, teniendo como objetivo principal el valorar el uso del óxido nitroso en el área odontológica, en cuanto a la metodología aplicada en esta investigación fue descriptivo, de corte transversal y retrospectivo; inicialmente fueron seleccionados 75 artículos de diversas bases de datos, de los cuales tras una filtración en base a su factor de impacto SJR se trabajó con 53 artículos científicos. El óxido nitroso en el área odontológica se lo puede utilizar durante la sedación consiente mediante la inhalación de este gas junto al oxígeno en personas que padecen ansiedad, enfermedades limitantes, son poco colaboradores y principalmente en pacientes pediátricos, brindando una mejor experiencia durante el tratamiento dental que estos deban recibir; al utilizarlo junto a técnicas de anestesia local estas suelen tener un mayor efecto analgésico, cabe mencionar que este gas se lo puede utilizar para tratar malformaciones vasculares de la cavidad oral, leucoplasias o mucoceles mediante la crioterapia con el fin de evitar malestares post-operatorios. Concluyendo así que la sedación no es la única función que este gas cumple en el área odontológica, a pesar de ser la más utilizada debido a sus varios beneficios en cuanto a facilidad de tratamiento de pacientes de difícil manejo. | |
