| dc.description | ABSTRACT
The research was carried out with the objective of making an analysis of the characterization of oral health in
schoolchildren in the Second Years of Basic Education and Second Years of High School in the different
Educational Units of Sector 3, Riobamba, 2021. This was a descriptive cross-sectional research. The population
study was of 67 students with each of their representatives and seven teachers from each of the educational
institutions. The research was carried out by means of the observation technique and using the clinical history, a
test, a survey and a questionnaire as instruments. The results obtained in the present investigation indicated an
equal level of knowledge between bad and regular in the schoolchildren, while in the teachers a regular level was
obtained; regarding the CMFS and CMFT index, a low severity level was obtained, that is, between 1.2 and 2.6
according to the WHO. In the application of the O`Leary index, a deficient level of plaque was determined in most
of the students and a statistically significant correlation was also obtained with the consumption of snacks
(p=0.022). It is concluded that there was no relationship between the level of knowledge of the students surveyed with the CMFS and CMFT index since the level of severity was between bad and regular while the students had knowledge between bad and regular. La investigación fue realizada con el objetivo de hacer un análisis de la caracterización de la salud oral en escolares de los Segundos Años de Educación Básica y Segundos Años de Bachillerato en las diferentes Unidades Educativas del Sector 3. Riobamba, 2021. Esta investigación fue de tipo descriptivo de corte transversal. La población de estudio estuvo conformada por 67 estudiantes con cada uno de sus representantes y siete docentes de cada una de las instituciones educativas. La investigación se llevó a cabo mediante la técnica de la observación y usando como instrumento la historia clínica junto al test, una encuesta y un cuestionario. Los resultados obtenidos en la presente investigación indicaron un nivel de conocimiento igualitario entre malo y regular en los escolares, mientras que en los docentes se obtuvo un nivel regular; en lo que respecta al índice CPO-D y ceo-d se obtuvo un nivel de severidad bajo es decir, entre 1,2 a 2,6 según la OMS. En la aplicación del índice de O`Leary se determinó un nivel de placa deficiente en la mayor parte de los estudiantes y además se obtuvo una correlación estadísticamente significativa con el consumo de snacks (p=0,022). Se concluyó que no existió ninguna relación entre el nivel de conocimiento de los estudiantes encuestados con el índice CPO y ceod ya que el nivel de severidad fue entre malo y regular mientras que los estudiantes tuvieron un conocimiento entre malo y regular. | |
