dc.descriptionBirds of prey play important roles in natural ecosystems that range from determining the structure and organization of biological communities to biological control of pests, on the other hand they also play a role in mythology and legends, it is at this point when perceptions or false beliefs generated by the human being, added to the lack of biological information can affect a species, therefore these dimensions influence its protection and conservation, which leads us to propose the present study focused on evaluating false beliefs in around the group of birds of prey and how they affect their conservation, so that they allow the development of an educational strategy in order to make society aware of their care and protection, the research was carried out in the city of Quito, a survey was applied from of a population sample at the family level, interviews were conducted to obtain the cultural perception he ancestral of the avifauna, which will later guide the bias that it has with the current cultural perception in young people, at the end and based on the data obtained, an educational strategy that intends to integrate the faunal knowledge of the student body will be recommended, keeping in mind the cultural context where these take meaning and meaning, in order to establish ways and means to incorporate them into biological education, in such a way that they do not lose cultural knowledge or ignore the biological role played by this group of birds. dc.descriptionLas aves rapaces desempeñan en los ecosistemas naturales importantes roles que van   desde determinar la estructura y organización de las comunidades biológicas  hasta el  control biológico de plagas, por otro lado también juegan un papel en la mitología  y las leyendas,  es en este punto cuando las percepciones o creencias falsas generadas por el ser humano, sumado al desconocimiento de información biológica pueden llegar a afectar a una especie, por tanto estas dimensiones influyen en su protección y conservación, lo que nos lleva a plantear el presente estudio enfocado en evaluar las falsas creencias en torno al grupo de aves rapaces y como éstas inciden en su conservación, para que permitan desarrollar una estrategia educativa en post de concientizar a la sociedad en su cuidado y protección, la investigación se desarrolló en la ciudad de Quito, se aplicó una encuesta a partir de una muestra poblacional a nivel de familias, se realizó  entrevistas para obtener la  percepción cultural ancestral de la avifauna, que posteriormente guiará el sesgo que tiene con la percepción cultural actual en los jóvenes, al culminar y a partir de los datos  obtenidos se recomendará una estrategia educativa que pretenda integrar los conocimientos faunísticos del estudiantado, teniendo presente el contexto cultural donde estos toman sentido y significado, para de esta manera establecer formas y medios para incorporarlos en la educación biológica, de tal forma que no pierdan conocimiento cultural ni se ignore el papel biológico que desempeñan este grupo de aves.
