dc.descriptionEcuador is a democratic State which promotes citizen participation in the decision-making process that is materialized through universal and direct suffrage. For this reason, every four years Ecuadorians cast their ballots entrusting their representation and political responsibility of the country to political parties. Several mathematicians have proposed alternatives to allocate congressional-seats under a principle of proportionality. The Código de la Democracia published in 2009, established Webster and D’Hondt as the allocation methods. These are important to the extent that depending on the formula that is applied significantly alters the control of the parliament. This research proposes to bring the reader closer to the impact that the application of the Webster method will have on the composition of the legislature in the following elections through the comparison and conversion of the results obtained in 2017 with the D’Hondt method with respect to the method that will be applied from 2021.en-US
dc.descriptionEcuador es un Estado democrático que promueve la participación ciudadana en la toma de decisiones, que se materializa a través del sufragio universal y directo. Por ello, cada cuatro años los ecuatorianos votan para delegar su representación y responsabilidad política del país a los partidos políticos. Varios matemáticos han propuesto alternativas para asignar los escaños bajo un principio de proporcionalidad. El Código de la Democracia, publicado en 2009, estableció Webster y D’Hondt como los métodos de asignación. Estos son importantes en la medida en que, dependiendo de la fórmula que se aplique, se altera significativamente la composición del parlamento. Esta investigación propone acercar al lector al impacto que tendrá la aplicación del método Webster en la composición del Legislativo en las siguientes elecciones, mediante la comparación y conversión de los resultados obtenidos en 2017 con el método D’Hondt con respecto al método que se aplicará a partir de 2021.es-ES
