dc.descriptionThe impact of COVID-19 brought into question the efficiency of the cur-rent system of response to the pandemic in the face of gender inequal-ity. The lack of a human rights-based approach to respond to the needs of feminized, non-heteronormative and impoverished bodies meant the death of thousands of people around the world, not only because of the virus, but because of a crisis of governance that was based on a pa-triarchal regime. The pandemic intensified important issues that were also ignored before the outbreak, among them the impact of the crises: economic, care and gender-based violence. For these reasons, this arti-cle seeks to make visible, from a gender and development perspective, how the COVID-19 pandemic and the government’s social, economic, and political responses to it increased inequality.en-US
dc.descriptionEl impacto de la COVID-19 puso en debate la eficiencia del sistema ac-tual de respuesta a la pandemia frente a la desigualdad de género. La falta de un enfoque basado en derechos humanos que permita respon-der a las necesidades de corporalidades feminizadas, no heteronormati-vas y empobrecidas significó la muerte de miles de personas en todo el mundo, no solo por el virus, sino por una crisis de gobernabilidad que se cimentó en un régimen patriarcal. La pandemia intensificó problemáti-cas importantes que igualmente fueron ignoradas antes del brote, como el impacto de las crisis: económica, de cuidados y de violencia de géne-ro. Por esas razones, este artículo busca visibilizar, desde un enfoque de género y desarrollo, cómo la pandemia de la COVID-19 y las respuestas gubernamentales sociales, económicas y políticas a esta incrementaron la desigualdad.es-ES
