dc.descriptionThis work aims to examine the multi-hazard risk from natural disasters in regions of Argentina. Considering that risk is defined based on the elements of hazard, exposure and vulnerability, a risk index is constructed for the 2003-2015 period. The information comes from the records of the Disaster Inventory System (DesInventar), which are complemented by information from EM-DAT and the Dartmouth Flood Observatory. The results suggest that the greatest risk to natural disasters corresponds to Greater Buenos Aires, while the lowest level of risk to the Patagonia and Cuyo regions. The differences, however, may not be representative considering the presence of disaster sub-registry bias in peripheral regions.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente trabajo tiene por objetivo examinar el riesgo multi-amenaza por desastres naturales en regiones de Argentina. Considerando que el riesgo se define a partir de los elementos de amenaza, exposición y vulnerabilidad se construye un índice de riesgo para el período 2003-2015. La información procede de los registros del Sistema de Inventario de Desastres (DesInventar), los cuales se complementan con la información de EM-DAT y el Dartmouth Flood Observatory. Los resultados sugieren que el mayor riesgo a desastres naturales corresponde al Gran Buenos Aires, mientras que el menor nivel de riesgo a las regiones Patagonia y Cuyo. Las diferencias, sin embargo, podrían no ser representativas considerando la presencia de sesgo por sub-registro de desastres en regiones periféricas.es-ES
