dc.descriptionToday social entrepreneurship is becoming an innovative approach to address complex social needs. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the existing literature on social entrepreneurship. Regarding the methodology used, a systematic review of scientific articles was carried out, consulting regional and high-impact databases. The contextual factors that influence the emergence and development of social entrepreneurship were briefly examined and focused on its definition to understand this term, which is widely used, the characteristics as well as the motivations of social entrepreneursen-US

El objetivo del presente artículo es proporciona una visión general de la literatura existente acerca del emprendimiento social. En cuanto a la metodología utilizada se realizó una revisión sistemática de artículos científicos consultando las bases de datos regionales y de alto impacto. Se examinó brevemente los factores contextuales que influyen en la aparición y el desarrollo del emprendimiento social y se centra en la definición del mismo para la comprensión de este término bastante utilizado, las características además de las motivaciones de los emprendedores socialeses-ES
