To develop this document, the importance of Cadmium as a heavy metal was detailed: problems and effects on soil and plants. Heavy metals are generally present in the soil and in plants in low concentrations, which causes degradation in soils and contamination of them and plants. According to the above, it was determined that soil contamination with heavy metals causes environmental and public health probl ems, therefore it is necessary to carry out soil evaluations and analyzes to determine their chemical composition and make the necessary corrections. ; Cadmium is one of the heavy metals, considered the most toxic element and it is found distributed in nature and associated with other minerals; Cadmium fixation is higher in soils with high content of organic matter, with a finer texture and cation exchange capacity, which even in acid soils this metal is easily exchanged and made available to plants and it is necessary to identify the fertilizers suitable so that the accumulation of the level of Cadmium in the soil can be controlled and avoided
