dc.descriptionThe present case study dealt with the issue of Visual impairment and its influence on depression in an adult over 65 years of age from the Amawta Wasi Samay gerontological center with the aim of establishing how visual impairment influences depression in an older adult. He was able to obtain information through techniques such as interviews and psychometric tools such as the Mental Mini and the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale, which were carried out on the Elderly. Arriving at a diagnosis according to ICD-10 F34.1 Dysthymia, with a predisposing factor diagnosed of optic neuritis disease with an evolution time of 3 years and a precipitant such as the absence of visits from her daughter, from the beginning of the pandemic. For which a therapeutic proposal based on the cognitive-behavioral approach is proposed.

dc.descriptionEl presente estudio de caso trató el tema Discapacidad visual y su influencia en la depresión en un adulto mayor de 65 años del centro gerontológico Amawta Wasi Samay con el objetivo de establecer de qué manera la discapacidad visual influye en la depresión en un adulto mayor, se pudo obtener información mediante técnicas como la entrevista y de herramientas psicométricas como el Mini mental y la Escala de depresión geriátrica de Yesavage las cuales fueron realizadas a la Adulta Mayor. Llegando a un diagnóstico de acuerdo al CIE-10 F34.1 Distimia, con factor predisponente diagnosticado de enfermedad neuritis óptica con un tiempo de evolución de 3 años y un precipitante como la ausencia de visitas de su hija, desde el inicio de la pandemia. Para lo cual se plantea una propuesta terapéutica basada en el enfoque cognitivo conductual.
