This clinical case study is based on the application of the Nursing Care Process (PAE) to achieve a better outcome in the case of a patient 2 years and 8 months old, female, admitted to the General Hospital Babahoyo for severe malnutrition, In which complementary tests are performed under medical prescription, in addition, with a definitive diagnosis and for which the correct treatment is applied that takes a necessary and systematized care by the nursing professional, the PAE is applied with the purpose of improving the patient's health perception. Protein-caloric malnutrition is conceptualized by the World Health Organization as the deficit of healthy, nutritious food, or by the deficit of nutrient intake, or malnutrition is recognized as a delay in the development of growth. The purpose of this case is based on performing the correct care interventions in preschool patients with protein-calorie malnutrition. Based on the primordial tool, theories such as M. Gordon are applied. Gordon, which facilitated the assessment of functional patterns, also in the finalization of the Nursing Care Process, the NANDA, NIC and NOC taxonomy was very useful, which allowed to make a correct care plan and execute it in a systematized way. In conclusion, the most evident and critical points in this disease have been identified in the clinical case due to the deficit of knowledge in the parent and the economic difficulty, which has influenced the development of this pathology due to the poor nutrition or food deficit of protein and caloric nutrients.
