dc.descriptionAcute renal failure is a global problem pathology with high health costs, which is characterized by the inability of the kidneys to dispose of nitrogenous products, maintain fluid and electrolyte homeostasis. The main objective of this research was to analyze the worldwide prevalence and risk factors of acute renal failure in pediatric populations. The study presents a descriptive documentary design in which the search for bibliographic sources of popular science articles was carried out in the following databases: Google Scholar, PubMed, Scielo, ELSEVIER, Redalyc, Science Direct, Dialnet, RefSeek, Medigraphic. Original, review articles in English and Spanish whose publication date did not exceed the last 10 years were included. The global prevalence of acute renal failure had higher rates in male neonates and children under 6 years of age who live in countries such as the United States, Africa, and the risk factors associated with the disease were mainly age, multiorgan dysfunction, presence of infections, sepsis, coagulopathy. The main biomarkers used for the detection and diagnosis of this pathology are lipocalin associated with neutrophil gelatinase, kidney injury molecule 1. Interleukin 18, which are currently shown to be the most specific, and serum creatinine and changes in diuresis, which are not as specific.en-US
dc.descriptionLa insuficiencia renal aguda es una patología de problemática mundial y con altos costos para la salud, que se caracteriza por la incapacidad de los riñones para desechar productos nitrogenados, mantener la homeostasis de líquidos y electrolitos. El objetivo principal de esta investigación fue analizar la prevalencia mundial y los factores de riesgo de la insuficiencia renal aguda en poblaciones pediátricas. El estudio presenta un diseño documental de tipo descriptivo en el cual se realizó la búsqueda de fuentes bibliográficas de artículos de divulgación científica en las siguientes bases de datos: Google académico, PubMed, Scielo, ELSEVIER, Redalyc, Science Direct, Dialnet, RefSeek, Medigraphic. Se incluyeron artículos originales, de revisión en idiomas inglés y español cuya fecha de publicación no superó los últimos 10 años. La prevalencia mundial de la insuficiencia renal aguda tuvo mayores índices en neonatos y niños menores de 6 años de sexo masculino que viven en países como Estados Unidos, África y los factores de riesgos asociados a la enfermedad fueron principalmente la edad, disfunción multiorgánica, presencia de infecciones, sepsis, coagulopatía. Los principales biomarcadores utilizados para la detección y diagnóstico de esta patología son lipocalina asociada a la gelatinasa de neutrófilos, molécula de lesión renal 1. Interleucina 18 que actualmente se muestran como los más específicos y la creatinina sérica y cambios en la diuresis que no son tan específicos.es-ES
