dc.descriptionThe countries of Latin America are experiencing a complex epidemiological situation, as two epidemics Dengue and COVID-19 coexist in them. A study was carried out with the objective of analyzing the coinfection of dengue and COVID-19, its clinical epidemiological behavior in Latin America. A narrative, documentary and informative methodology was used. An exhaustive and complete search of updated information of the last five years on the subject was carried out, a total of 58 articles were consulted, of which 14 articles were selected for the investigation that address the subject to be investigated. Studies on the adult population prevailed (78.6 %) in relation to the pediatric population and in pregnant women, there is also limited bibliography on the presentation of cases with coinfection by dengue and COVID-19. The epidemiological behavior of both epidemics was characterized by a high incidence rate, but not in terms of the fatality rate, which was low in Dengue and high in COVID-19. Both presented a similar clinical behavior, the non-severe form of it predominated, however, COVID-19 presents a high percentage of the severe form, highlighting the asymptomatic presentation in both diseases in a variable percentage and a delayed diagnosis is reported in cases with coinfection by Dengue and COVID-19.en-US
dc.descriptionLos países de América Latina viven una compleja situación epidemiológica, al coexistir en ellos dos epidemias Dengue y COVID-19. Se realizó un estudio con el objetivo de analizar la coinfección del Dengue y COVID-19, su comportamiento clínico epidemiológico en América Latina. Se empleó una metodología de carácter narrativa, documental e informativa. Se realizó una exhaustiva y completa búsqueda de información actualizada de los últimos cinco años sobre el tema, se consultó en total 58 artículos de los cuales se seleccionaron 14 artículos para la investigación que abordan el tema a investigar. Predominaron los estudios sobre población adulta (78.6 %) en relación con la población pediátrica y en embarazadas, igual existe bibliografía limitada sobre presentación de casos con coinfección por Dengue y COVID-19. El comportamiento epidemiológico de ambas epidemias estuvo caracterizado por una elevada tasa de incidencia, no así en cuanto a la tasa de letalidad, la cual fue baja en el Dengue y elevada en la COVID-19. Ambas presentaron un comportamiento clínico similar, predominaron la forma no grave de la misma, sin embargo, la COVID-19 presenta un elevado por ciento de la forma grave, destacándose la presentación asintomática en ambas enfermedades en un porciento variable y se reporta un diagnóstico demorado en los casos con coinfección por Dengue y COVID-19.es-ES
