| dc.description | Tourism is one of the economic sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, both in Panama and throughout the world. The movement of tourists reflected a growth trend in 2019, but the measures adopted globally to contain the coronavirus will mean a drop between 60 and 80 percent. In this article, the author takes into account the role of universities that train professionals oriented to work in the tourism industry and raises several recommendations aimed at making changes in the programs and objectives of tourism careers, to take into account the Needs that will arise within the framework of the “new normal”. | en-US |
| dc.description | El turismo es uno de los sectores económicos más golpeados por la pandemia, tanto en Panamá como en el mundo entero. El movimiento de turistas reflejaba en 2019 una tendencia al crecimiento, pero las medidas adoptadas globalmente para contener el coronavirus, significarán una caída entre 60 y 80 por ciento. En este artículo, el autor toma en cuenta el papel de las universidades que forman profesionales orientados a laborar en la industria del turismo y plantea varias recomendaciones dirigidas a realizar cambios en los programas y en los objetivos de las carreras turísticas, para tomar en cuenta las necesidades que surgirán en el marco de la “nueva normalidad”.
