dc.descriptionThe birdlife of Cocos Island  is complex in its distribution and presence. Ecotourism expeditions for birdwatching purposes contribute to understanding and expanding the knowledge, behavior, natural history, and presence of birds in remote locations. This work documents observations of behaviors and ornithological records that increase the presence of birds in the protected area and its oceanic waters. Four new records of species not previously documented on Cocos Island and one subspecies are included, common oceanic birds are suggested for the vast marine territory, and knowledge of the island’s resident and endemic birds is expanded. The two given expeditions correspond to July and September 2020, using the intensive search protocol on public access trails, and the eBird pelagic protocol on pelagic routes and circumnavigation of the island for the registration and documentation of bird species.en-US
dc.descriptionLa avifauna de la Isla del Coco es compleja en su distribución y presencia. Las expediciones de ecoturismo con fines de observación de aves contribuyen a comprender y ampliar el conocimiento, comportamiento, historia natural y presencia de aves en zonas remotas. El presente trabajo documenta observaciones de comportamientos particulares y registros ornitológicos que amplían la presencia de aves en el área protegida y sus aguas oceánicas. Se incorporan cuatro registros nuevos de especies no documentadas antes en la Isla del Coco y una subespecie, se sugieren aves oceánicas comunes para el vasto territorio marino y se amplía el conocimiento de las aves residentes y endémicas de la ínsula. Las dos expediciones realizadas corresponden a julio y setiembre de 2020, en las cuales se emplearon el protocolo de búsqueda intensiva en los senderos de acceso público y el protocolo pelágico de eBird en los recorridos pelágicos y circunnavegación de la isla para el registro y documentación de especies de aves.es-ES
