dc.descriptionIn Costa Rica there are many farms dedicated to cattle production with the use of different breeding techniques and breeds according to the ultimate purpose of production. The productive and genetic improvement in the Oasis farm is based on the development and work with the animals that are produced through the use of Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI) as the main pregnancy method, managing and controlling the activity by applying the use of records or data collection of livestock activity. The actions consider a sustainable management of natural resources and better management of production times; in order to obtain improvements in the medium term within the current production system. Purebred bulls have a high commercial value, therefore, for a small herd, it is difficult to opt for improvements with these animals that provide the main characteristics and meet the selection requirements. Consequently, with the tool or implementation of artificial insemination, animals with these desired conditions and characteristics were obtained at a very low cost and endorsed by different entities to improve the progeny of a bovine herd, in addition to being bulls with a high value of heritability in their offspring, with greater adaptability to adversity and with a high genealogical value.en-US
dc.descriptionEn Costa Rica existen muchas fincas dedicadas a la producción bovina con el uso de diferentes técnicas de reproducción y razas, según el propósito final de la producción. El mejoramiento productivo y genético en finca Oasis se basa en el desarrollo y trabajo con los animales que se producen por medio del uso de la inseminación artificial a tiempo fijo (IATF) como método de preñez principal. Se lleva un manejo y control de la actividad aplicando el uso de los registros o toma de datos de la actividad pecuaria. Las acciones contemplan un manejo sostenible de los recursos naturales y mejor manejo de los tiempos de producción; con el fin de obtener mejoras a mediano plazo dentro del sistema productivo actual. Los toros puros tienen un alto valor comercial, por ende, para una ganadería pequeña es difícil optar por mejoras con los animales que aporten las principales características y cumplan con las exigencias de selección. En consecuencia, con la herramienta o implementación de la inseminación artificial se obtienen animales con las condiciones y características deseadas a muy bajo costo, y avalados por diferentes entes para mejorar la progenie de un hato bovino. Además, son toros con un alto valor de heredabilidad en sus crías, con mayor capacidad de adaptabilidad a las adversidades y con un alto valor genealógico.es-ES
