| dc.description | In order todetermine the effect of pre-packaging treatments on the finalquality of Dracaena marginata cane for export, we performeda simulation of post-harvest shipping conditions and thefollowing effects on root and leaf damage were evaluated:wet vs. dry leaves, hydrated vs. non-hydrated plants beforepackaging, waxed vs. unwaxed leaves, cytokinin vs nocytokinin application prior to harvesting, plants that kept thealuminum vs. plants in which the aluminum was removedfrom the air-layer before covering with black plastic.Regarding root damage, wetting the plants before packaginggave better results than not doing it, except when comparedwith the application of wax or citokinins. Hydrating theplants before packaging increased the number of burnedleaves in comparison with the other treatments. Applyingwax to the leaves significantly increased the number oflost and rotten leaves, when compared with the rest of thetreatments. Citokinin application before harvesting andwetting the leaves before packaging, improved the conditionof the leaves compared to the control. No difference in rootdamage was caused by removing or leaving the aluminumon the air-layer. | en-US |
| dc.description | Con el objetivo de determinar el efecto de diferentes tratamientospre-empaque, sobre la calidad final de cañas de Dracaenamarginata para exportación, se realizó una simulacióndel embarque, en época lluviosa en La Virgen de Sarapiquí,Heredia, Costa Ri ca, durante los meses de mayo a julio del2005. Se evaluó el daño en raíces y hojas de Dracaena marginatade los siguie ntes tratamie ntos: planta con el follaje mojadovs follaje seco, plantas hidratadas previo al empaque vsplantas sin hidratar, plantas con tratamiento de cera al follajevs plantas sin cera, plantas con tratamie nto con citoquininasantes de la cosecha vs plantas sin tratamie nto con citoquininas,plantas a las que no se les retira la cobertura con hojasde aluminio en el acodo antes de tapar con el plástico negroplatavs plantas a las que sí se les retira esta cobertura previoa este proceso. Humedecer estas antes de empacarlas produjomenores daños en las raíces. Hidratar las plantas, previo alempaque, incrementó el número de hojas quemadas. Colocarcera en el follaje, incrementó significativamente el número dehojas desprendidas y podridas. La aplicación de citoquininasprevio a la cosecha y humedecer el follaje antes del empaque,mejoró su condición al compararlo con el testigo. No hubodiferencia en los daños en las raíces entre dejar o quitar lacobertura de hojas de aluminio en el acodo. | es-ES |
