dc.description | We presented the experimental investigation of the conventional Raman Effect and
the process of supercontinuum generation in standard dispersion optical fibers. Our
experimental technique allows us to study both effects in fibers with different lengths
due to the peculiarity of the pulse delivered by the directly modulated laser diode
(presence of quasi stationary and transitorial component on its shape).
It was observed that during the pulse propagation through the fiber the Raman Effect
is accompanied by the widening of the spectrum. The contribution of the different
nonlinear effect on the generation of the supercontinuum was investigated
experimentally.
Additionally the modulational instability was observed and its influence on the
generation of a broadband widening of the pulse by means of the effect of self
frequency shift. The Raman Effect contributes amplifying a pulse while its spectrum
is flattened. | |
dc.description | Presentamos la investigación experimental del efecto Raman y la generación de
supercontinuo en fibras ópticas estándar. La forma del pulso del diodo láser
modulado directamente y la técnica utilizada nos permitió estudiar ambos efectos en
fibras con diferentes longitudes.
Al estudiar la propagación del pulso en la fibra se observó el efecto Raman
acompañado de un espectro continuo. Para poder explicar y comprender estos
resultados en la generación del espectro continuo se hicieron mediciones para
determinar que efectos no lineales están involucrados.
Se observó la existencia de la inestabilidad modulacional y como influye para la
generación de un espectro ancho del pulso por medio del efecto de autodesplazamiento
en frecuencia. El efecto Raman contribuye amplificando al pulso
conforme se desplaza obteniendo un espectro más plano. | |
