dc.descriptionTras luchar por su independencia, las sociedades mexicanas y estadunidenses sufrieron cambios institucionales de considerable magnitud, y debieron responder a una serie de problemas nuevos que dificultaban la instauración de un orden político. Los procesos fueron sin duda diferentes. Sin embargo, la creación de un estado moderno, tanto en México como en Estados Unidos, perseguía un mismo objetivo: sustituir un orden político fundado en el accidente histórico o en la imposición del más fuerte por otro fundado en la reflexión y la libre elección de los ciudadanos.
dc.descriptionAfter fighting for their Independence, the Mexican and American societies experienced significant institutional changes and were forced to respond to the new problems affecting the creation of a new political order. There is no doubt the both processes were different. However, both Mexico and the United States pursued the same objective in creating a modern state: to replace a political order based on historical accident or on the imposition of the strongest by one based on the reflection and free choice of citizens.
