dc.descriptionAbstract: In this paper we will describe the software implementation of parallel direct solvers for sparse matrices and their use in the solution of linear nite element problems, particularly an example of structural mechanics. We will describe four strategies to reduce the time and the memory usage when solving linear systems using Cholesky and LU factorization.
