One use of parabolic trough technology is the generation of solar process heat, however a great challenge to achieve widespread use of this technology in industrial processes is the reduction of manufacturing costs. A circular profile can be approximated to a parabola in the paraxial region and may be less expensive their manufacture than a parabolic profile. Circular profile can introduce errors due to optical aberrations and profile errors inherent in its manufacturing, so the use of secondary reflectors that minimize these errors is required. This work presents the mechanical design of a circular trough solar collector with a trapezoidal secondary reflector, an análisis of efforts was conducted using wind velocity of Durango city.
