Asia is a key region for the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in its mission to enhance food security and reduce poverty in maize- and wheat-based systems. With nine offices in the region, CIMMYT works in close partnership with an array of institutions, including national, regional and local organizations, advanced research institutions, farmers’ associations and agricultural extension agencies to develop and deploy high-yielding and climate-resilient maize germplasm, promote the adoption of conservation agriculture in maize-based systems, and empower local communities through community-based seed production, training and capacity building.
