In an attempt to describe and explain fanner maize production practices for three recommendation domains in Northern Veracruz, two formal surveys were carried out. The first was conducted in August 1978 and examined the Jtme 1978 maize cycle, whereas the second was conducted in April 1979, on the December 1978 cycle. Target fanners were "ejidatarios" who cultivated maize.
