dc.descriptionThroughout its rich history, CIMMYT has changed in response to changing circumstances. While it remains at heart a germplasm improvement institution, the CIMMYT of today is quite different from that of 20 years ago, just as CIMMYT in 2000 will be different from the CIMMYT of today. The challenge is one of charting a course, anticipating change wherever possible while providing for the unexpected. This challenge derives particular significance from the fundamental importance of maize and wheat in developing countries.
