| dc.description | Este trabajo propone una lectura del quizás primer ensayo de una filología americana, en un recorrido por el tríptico que ofrece el trabajo erudito de Andrés Bello en la biblioteca londinense (accesibles ahora en la edición de Iván Jakšić, y Tania Avilés), la fisonomía de sus proyectos editoriales americanistas (el <i>Repertorio</i> y la <i>Biblioteca</i>) y el lenguaje poético de la “Alocución a la Poesía”. Esta lectura pretende realizarse atendiendo al alcance y límites de la impronta política de la práctica filológica tal como la misma se concibe en la Europa en la que Bello desarrolla su actividad en la primera parte del siglo XIX, esto es, durante los años londinenses de Andrés Bello. | |
| dc.description | This paper offers a critical reading of what might be considered the first attempt at a Latin-American philology, through a close study of, in the first place, a textual triptych composed by the notes taken by Andrés Bello during his years of philological research in the British Library (which are now available to a wider public thanks to the extraordinary work accomplished by Iván Jakšić and Tania Avilés). Secondly, of his Latin-Americanist editorial projects conducted in London between 1823 and 1827, and lastly, the study of certain aspects of his “Alocución a la Poesía”. This is intended to be carried out taking into account the scope and limits of the political imprint of philological practice as it was conceived in Europe in the first decades of the 19th century, that is to say, during Andrés Bello’s London years. | |
