It is considered here how serology can be used for the determination of the macrosystematic and macroevolution of the major groups, and examples are given of those results which are coincident with the embryological and anatomical ones. It is also summarized here its application in microsystematic and the need of development of methods for the individualization of proteins in their biosystematic behaviour. Of these, it is summond the most tiresome direct qualiquantitative method and with some more detail the immunological and physicochemical methods (electrophoretic and chromatographic); among them it is remarked the impulse given by the “Photronreflectometer” of Libby and the “Serum Agar Measuring Integrator” of Glenn for the measurements of the immunological reactions. Mention is made of the great specificity of seroproteins, to which the application of electrophoretic methods permits intraspecific determinations, culminating with the essay of an electrophoretic systematic key. Finally the author remarks that the great precision and specificity of chromatographic methods has enabled achieving the separation of proteinic aminoacids with the isolation of a sexual peptid characteristic of the Drosophila melanogaster males.
