dc.descriptionThis paper Presents the trajectory of the “Amantes de la Luz” cultural societies of Santiago and the progessive one of La Vega. Their purpose was to promote social and economic advancement in those cities. They focused their efforts on activities where education was the means to reduce illiteracy and promote culture and civic values. They contributed to the formation of citizens who contributed to the progress of the country. It highlights the conviction of unity that they had and become models for the emergence of organizations in other locations. They fostered a network of societies that later became spaces for socialization with the purpose of achieving cultural, scientific, and economic progress.en-US
dc.descriptionEn este trabajo se presenta la trayectoria de las sociedades culturales Amantes de la Luz de Santiago y La Progresista de La Vega. Tenían como propósito impulsar avance social y económico en esas ciudades. Realizaron actividades donde la educación constituyó el medio para disminuir el analfabetismo e impulsar la cultura y los valores cívicos. Esto repercutió en la formación de ciudadanos que contribuyeron al progreso del país. Destaca la convicción de unidad que tuvieron al convertirse en modelos para el surgimiento de organizaciones en otras localidades. Fomentaron una red de sociedades que luego se convirtieron en espacios de socialización con el propósito de lograr avance cultural, científico y económico.es-ES
