dc.description.abstract1. To establish a Science Advisory Committee aimed at strengthening Uruguay's scientific capacities tocontribute to the work of CCAMLR. More specifically, to foster Uruguay's contribution to the work oftheWG-EMM and the CEMP and marine debris programs, and to the management and mon itoring of MPAs. 2. To incorporate Ardley lsland (in King George lsland) as a CEMP site, and initiate a Iong­termmonitoring scheme ofthe site. 3.To initiate a long-term monitoring scheme of a) marine debris in King George Island, and b) plasticsin sea waters in the Western Antarctic Península and South Scotia Are region (MPAs Domain I) 4.To implement a research plan on penguins and cetaceans' foraging behavior and spatial ecology, inthe Western Antarctic Peninsula and South Scotia Are region (MPAs Domain 1). 5. To train young and early-career scientists in research and knowledge brokering on issues ofrelevance for the CCAMLR.
