dc.description | To evaluate the efficacy of the modified protocol of KABAT - ADLER, as a technique that favors the mobility and motility of the visceral system in patients undergoing abdominal surgery treated in the general surgery hospitalization service of the Dr. Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital in the advanced period between July and October 2018. Method: this is a descriptive and comparative study, with a longitudinal and prospective design. The sample was intentional non-probabilistic, it was comprised of 40 patients undergoing laparoscopic or open abdominal surgery. They were divided into 2 groups by simple chance, in the experimental group 6 exercises were performed based on the Kabat method, of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and the other will serve as a control, and the progression was evaluated in the first 96 hours postoperatively, regarding flatus, belching, stools and the beginning of ambulation. Results: Regarding pain, the intensity of the pain progressively decreased in both study groups, however, in the experimental group the decrease was statistically significant on the different days (P < 0.05) and forceful in proportion until the 4th day. In the experimental group, proportionally the amount of flatus, eructations and stools increased as the days of stimulation progressed. Everything was corroborated when the median flatus and belching increased from the first day to the 4th day of the protocol, these differences being statistically significant (P < 0.05). Similarly, a statistically significant difference was found in the percentage of patients with two stools on the first day compared Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of the modified protocol of KABAT - ADLER, as a technique that favors the mobility and motility of the visceral system in patients undergoing abdominal surgery treated in the general surgery hospitalization service of the Dr. Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital in the advanced period between July and October 2018. Operative ileus was only present in the control group, this association being statistically significant between the presence of postoperative ileus according to the study groups, (P < 0.05) since the only cases of this complication were from the group where the operation was not performed. protocol (control group). The starting average was lower in the experimental group, this difference being statistically significant between the study groups (P < 0.05).
