dc.descriptionThis review aims to determine the atypical swallowing malocclusions. When there are inadequate move-ments of the tongue and / or other structures during oral and pharyngolaryngeal phase of swallowing, talking about atypical swallowing, as a non-physiological habit. Its objectives may be multiple, simul-taneously acting alone or cumulatively. The size of a large tongue has been found as an impediment to correct such alternations, though this is a cause of causing malocclusion. the importance of the application of myofunctional therapies for prevention and rehabilitation of soft tissue, as these can cause malocclusions and lack of facial development, affecting the aesthetics of the patient stands.en-US
dc.descriptionLa presente revisión tiene como objetivo determinar la deglución atípica en las maloclusiones. Cuando existen movimientos inadecuados de la lengua y/o de otras estructuras durante la fase bucal y faríngola-ríngea de la deglución, hablamos de deglución atípica, como un hábito no fisiológico. Sus objetivos pue-den ser múltiples, actuando solos o simultáneamente de forma acumulativa. El tamaño de una lengua grande se ha encontrado como impedimento para corregir tales alternaciones, sin ser ésta una causa de originar la maloclusiones. Se destaca la importancia que tiene la aplicación de las terapias miofunciona-les para la prevención y rehabilitación de los tejidos blandos, ya que éstos pueden causar maloclusiones y falta de desarrollo facial, afectando la estética del paciente.es-ES
