Executive functions are the cognitive skills needed to control our thoughts, emotions and actions. Such abilities have maturation throughout life until the beginning of adulthood and is one of the greatest predictors of success during the academic path. The central theme of this work is the analysis of executive functions and their interface with school performance. The goal is to better understand how these cognitive skills develop, their role and their impact on student's academic lives. Furthermore, it aims to identify relevant strategies used by teachers in classroom in order to enhance learning trough the skills of these executives functions. The research methodology is characterized as descriptive and applied, with a predominantly qualitative approach. To consolidate the objective, a survey was carried out in the literature about the main instruments used by teachers that aim to develop some important functions for the study and learning process, skills that are shown to be precarious in some students. The main strategies found were those that optimize and stimulate planning, metacognition and time management. The strategies mainly benefit students with the diagnose of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The results of the present work showed that there are few studies in the area, and those found are recent, predominantly from the last 10 years. Thus, it is necessary to invest in research that addresses the theme
