dc.description.abstract | The human being has behavioral characteristics that influence certain attitudes adopted by him. One of these characteristics is the way he sees himself in relation to the world and to other people. When individuals tend to think that being superior to others make them special, it can be observed that there are narcissistic characteristics in them. And to support their of superiority, narcissists use comparisons with other individuals. This research examined the relation between non-pathological traits of a narcissist personality, high self-esteem and the individual differences in the frequency of social comparison among students of the course of Accounting of Federal University of Minas Gerais. Data collection was performed through a questionnaire applied to 176 students of the course of Accounting, contemplating three scales of measure non-pathological traits of narcissistic personality, high self-esteem and aspects related to the process of social comparison. It was concluded that individuals with higher levels of narcissistic personality traits also have higher levels of self-esteem. In relation to self-esteem and social comparison, it was found that individual with high self-esteem tended to perform less social comparisons. These two first results converged with the theoretical discussions and results obtained by similar studies. | |
