Elis Regina recorded the song Vou Deitar e Rolar, by Paulo César Pinheiro and Baden Powell, on her LP, Em Pleno Verão (1970). This study presents the identification, spectrographic analysis and description of relevant occurrences of 4 vocal effects (vibrato, portamento, onomatopoeia and fry) in this recording. The methodological procedures used are qualitative nature (based on the literature on speech therapy) and quantitative (rate and amplitude of the vibrati, initial and final frequencies of articulation in the sound spectrum of the portamenti). The results reveal that the use and, sometimes, the combination of Elis Regina vocal effects in the same musical gesture, is the result of a meticulous planning that is central to the construction of her performance. The symmetry observed between the repetitions of the same vocal effect reveals coherence and unity resulting from: (1) intercommunication of different interpretive nuances, carried out through vocal effects, (2) emphases on text-sound relations and (3) great coherence and unity in symmetric repetitions of the same vocal effect.
