The Y Balance Test (YBT) is a reliable and valid test to capture dynamic neuromuscular control, in addition to assessing the symmetry and displacement of the lower limbs, making it possible to predict risk of injury. Also, the test presents intra-rater reliability. Considering the importance of YBT in clinical practice and research, and that there are no systematic reviews on the subject, the objective of this review was to investigate which biomechanical variables influence the performance of YBT. Articles without restriction of language and year of publication, found in the EMBASE and PUBMED database, that addressed the biomechanical variables that influence the performance of the YBT in healthy individuals were selected. Exclusion criteria were single case studies and studies that did not address the subject despite the favorable title. 303 articles were found, and in the end five were selected. Multiple factors influence YBT results. However, the results must be interpreted with caution
