Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) are used in order to search for cleaner ways of production, being the Life Cycle Energy Analysis (LCEA) an alternative method that simplifies research and allows the energy consumption quantification of materials used at construction sites. This work realises a case study of the energetic life cycle of a dwelling considering three typologies of construction for the same project: conventional masonry, structural masonry and light steel framing (LSF), calculating the energy expended in each phase that composes a LCEA (Pre-operational Phase, Operational Phase, Post-Operational Phase) and total energy spent, result of the sum of all phases. The methodological procedures described by Tavares (2006) will be used from the energy content of the material, discrim inated in MJ/kg or MJ/m3. After the LCEA was carried out for each typology of construction, it was observed that the LSF is the most sustainable at an energetic point of view, which together with the rapidity of the method and its dry construction, demonstrates the importance of thinking about new construction methods and opening up more spaces for methods little used until now.
