This thesis aims to reflect about the concept of identity on contemporaneity from some expressions of Protestant religion in Brazil. Therefore, we resort to Bauman's reflection about the profile of the "identity" in the postmodern age, underlining the historic contextualization of the context evoked by the author. Posteriorly, we resume some of Freud's writings that allow us to enunciate the main concepts of psychoanalysis while analysing the manifestations of Protestantism nowadays. Then, we will historically contextualize the Protestantism phenomenon from Max Weber's point of view so, next, we may illustrate some contemporary expressions of the religious phenomenon through videos that are available online. Finally, we trace some thoughts about the religious speech in the contemporary age, analysing some of those expressions from the theoretical frame of psychoanalysis explored until now. As final observations, we will deliver alternative ways that may construct a more democratic guide to an existential ethics.
