Understanding the behavior of column-base plates of steel and composite structures is extremely important for the stability, once the geometry, plate’s thickness and anchor’s dimensions influence in the connection stiffness, therefore, in the efforts transfer. The Brazilian methodology is completely based in the AISC method, which doesn’t apply to base plates submitted to biaxial bending efforts, a case commonly used, especially in industry constructions. The number of studies for stiffened base plates in both axes has been growing the last 20 years, especially in international articles of universities of United States and Korea. The idea of this work is to do a compilation of these studies, national e international, correlating and parameterizing results, along with the development of an analytic study in the weak axis and comparison of the results with results found in literature, to offer a solid methodology to check plates submitted at biaxial bending.
