The development process of the Metropolitan Region of Greater Resistencia is characterized by the discussion on sustainable small-scale development practices and the high rate expansion of the urban sprawl. The former are small communities dedicated to small scale economic activities, rooted in a particular location. The latter have to do with the urban pressure on natural environments derived from the expansionist tendency of the city advancing on the territory. This paper presents the case of craft fisheries located on the eastern bank of the Paraná River, around the Metropolitan Area of Greater Resistencia,Argentina.
