dc.description.abstract | The objective of this work was to describe the pathological findings of a flock of sheep with pseudotuberculosis. The infected animals had diarrhea, loss of weight, caquexia and finally died. The post mortem examination revealed severe gastrointestinal parasitism, granulomatous mesenteric lymphadenitis, granulomatous hepatitis and pneumonia. The main histopathological findings were mesenteric lymphadenitis with two patrons of granulomatous reaction. Some of them were typical pseudotuberculosis, with central caseous necrosis surrounded by macrophages and fibrosis, and others, with giant cells and occasional larva of parasites. With a presumptive diagnosis of tuberculosis, a tuberculin test and microbiological culture were made. The tuberculin test was negative, whereas Yersinia pseudotuberculosis was isolated from mesenteric lymph nodes. The gastrointestinal parasitism could have been the predisposed factor for the infection of Y. Pseudotuberculosis.
