| dc.description | The Byzantine population of the early 7th century experienced a long-standing crisis. However, the assumption of Heraclius to power resulted in renewed hopes. The court poet, George of Pisidia, became the main spokesman for this new emperor. In his Expeditio Persica, the poet uses resources and strategies appropriate to the preferences and demands of the receiving public with the intention of legitimizing the new sovereign. Although we cannot start from the characteristics of an audience that we do not know, we can deduce, from the text, some particularities of this community. The purpose of this article is to analyze those resources that allow us to outline an approximate description of the public receiver of the text. | en-US |
| dc.description | La población bizantina de principios del siglo VII vivía una crisis de larga data. Sin embargo, la asunción de Heraclio al poder trajo consigo esperanzas renovadas. El poeta de la corte, Jorge de Pisidia, se constituyó en el vocero principal de este nuevo emperador. En su Expeditio Persica, el poeta emplea recursos y estrategias adecuados a las preferencias y exigencias del público receptor con la intención de legitimar al nuevo soberano. Si bien no podemos partir de las características de un público que no conocemos, podemos deducir, a partir del texto, algunas particularidades de esta comunidad. El propósito de este artículo es analizar aquellos recursos que nos permitan esbozar una descripción aproximada del público receptor del texto. | es-ES |
