dc.description.abstract | El reto principal de un robot trepador es luchar contra la gravedad. Diferentes enfoques se han explorado en los últimos años y nuevas técnicas de adhesión son continuamente propuestas en la búsqueda de soluciones.
Es interesante observar que, aunque los primeros ejemplos de robots escaladores fueron desarrollados hace más de 40 años, un artículo recientemente publicado en la prestigiosa revista IEEE journal Spectrum, donde se está considerando “superficies verticales y la escalada como la nueva frontera para la investigación robótica”. Robots escaladores son generalmente adoptados en todos los sectores en los que podría ser peligroso para los humanos operar directamente. Las aplicaciones típicas incluyen las áreas de inspección, limpieza y mantenimiento, la reparación de las estructuras industriales y civiles, entre otras propuestas.
Un paso importante hacia la difusión del conocimiento de los robots de escalada se ha establecido en 1998 mediante la formación de la red CLAWAR, inicialmente financiada por la Comisión Europea y luego en 2005 convirtiéndose en una asociación. La red, a través de reuniones, boletines informativos y la organización de la conferencia anual CLAWAR, representa un punto central para la difusión de las actividades de investigación en robots escaladores. En particular, las actas de las conferencias CLAWAR son la principal fuente de referencia para los últimos avances en robots escaladores. Varios números especiales en revistas diferentes han sido también organizados por la red. | |
