Resumen
This study presents a comparative analysis of the learning environments in two
institutions in two different regions of Colombia, as well as the pedagogical and
didactic aspects that are immersed therein and that promote meaningful learning. Some
classes were observed, two teachers of bilingual areas were interviewed about their
perspectives on learning environments and a detailed analysis was made of all the
documents of each school, in order to identify similarities and differences in the
construction and implementation of these learning environments and the third grade of
each institution was taken into account as a sample. The project used different data
collection instruments, including teacher interviews, observations focused on how the
learning environments work, how they are constructed and implemented, the progress,
the process, and documents that support the process of meaningful learning in students.
The results of the analysis of these environments strongly indicate that bilingual
learning environments represent a challenge for educational institutions committed to
bilingualism processes, and constitute in turn the environment that seeks to favor the
teaching-learning processes of a second language, making it meaningful.
