| dc.description | Este artículo indaga sobre las narraciones realizadas por las sociedades geográficas argentinas de corte más tradicional durante el último cuarto del siglo XX: la Sociedad Argentina de Estudios Geográficos (GAEA) y la Academia Nacional de Geografía (ANG). ¿Por qué es importante dedicar nuestra atención a estas narraciones institucionales? Porque en ellas es posible distinguir una mirada con trazos y sentidos que le son propios para relatar la historia de un campo social y de conocimientos específico. Estas narraciones se constituyen en los modos mediante los cuales se resalta la tarea académica y los logros de las figuras del campo, se reconocen personalidades y se celebran sus obras. De este modo, las instituciones construyen y reconstruyen a través de sus órganos de divulgación una historia, o mejor dicho, una memoria disciplinar. Más allá de las cronologías e historias de la Geografía que figuran en sus volúmenes, las fuentes que nutren de manera notable esta memoria son los ritos y ceremonias, muchos de ellos actos orales que al transponerse en sus versiones escritas asumen un género más cercano a lo literario. Ritos, ceremonias y memoria conllevan una finalidad moral y pedagógica para el resto de los miembros de la comunidad, además de afirmar determinadas tradiciones científicas. | |
| dc.description | This article explores the narratives made by two traditional Argentinian geographic societies during the last quarter of the twentieth century: the National Academy of Geography (ANG) and the Argentinian Society of Geographic Studies (GAEA). Why is it important to devote our attention to these institutional narratives? Because through them it is possible to distinguish a viewpoint with its own traces and meanings to tell the history of a specific social field. These narratives are the modes by which the academic work and the achievements of the leading figures of the field are highlighted, acknowledged and celebrated. This way, the institutions construct and reconstruct their history, or rather a disciplinary memory, through their journals and bulletins. Beyond the chronologies and the history of Geography contained in their volumes, the rites and ceremonies are the sources that nourish this disciplinary memory significantly, many of them are oral acts whose written versions assume a literary genre. Rites, ceremonies and the construction of the disciplinary memory entail a moral and pedagogical purpose for the rest of the community members, in addition to asserting particular scientific traditions. | |
