In recent times there is evidence of interest in investigating the use of psychoactive substances in young people, but little is known about the psychological factors involved in the use of young offenders. For this reason, the present study sought to identify the characteristics of substance use and coping strategies in young people who are deprived of liberty in a resocialization center, this study was satisfied with a sample of 78 young people aged between 16 and 23 years, obtaining that the most consumed substances were alcohol, cigarette, and marijuana. In addition, the most commonly used positive strategy was problem-solving and the highest negative strategy was emotional avoidance.
