dc.description.abstract | Objective: To demonstrate if anemia is a risk factor for adverse reactions to antituberculous drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo.
Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case and control study was carried out. The study population consisted of 183 adult patients with pulmonary tuberculosis; which were divided into 2 groups: with adverse reactions and without adverse reactions to drugs; the odds ratio and the chi square test were calculated.
Results: The frequency of anemia in patients with adverse reactions to antituberculous drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis was 25%. The frequency of anemia in patients without adverse reactions to antituberculous drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis was 10%. Anemia is a risk factor for adverse reactions to antituberculous drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis with an odds ratio of 2.98 which was significant (p <0.05). The group of patients with AFFA presented hemoglobin values significantly lower than the group of patients without AFFA.
Conclusions: Anemia is a risk factor for adverse reactions to antituberculous drugs in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo.
