dc.description.abstractThe present research aimed to determine the level of knowledge about healthy eating in patients enrolled in the diabetes control and management program of the EsSalud-Bagua Grande 2021 hospital, with a quantitative approach, descriptive, observational, and univariate level, the sample made up of 44 patients. The questionnaire prepared by the author, validated by experts and with a reliability level of 0.764 according to Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, was used as an instrument. The SPSS v.25 software was used for information processing. The results indicate that the highest percentage of the sample is male, 54.5%, the age had a mean of 63.61 (+/- 9.322) and the age range with the highest number was 62-72 years, comprising 50% of the total; Regarding the level of studies, 29.6% have higher university and pedagogical studies, 25% incomplete primary, 20.5% complete primary, in terms of marital status, 63.6% are married; 59.1% are independent workers, and the vast majority 79.5% profess the Catholic religion and 50% have a medium level of knowledge. It was concluded: The level of knowledge is medium 50%, also observing a low level of knowledge 50%, constituting a barrier to compliance with the recommendations given by the nursing staff responsible for the program, also putting at risk the proper management of its self-care. It is also pointed out that the level of knowledge in the diabetic patient is significantly related to sex (p = 0.015), age (p = 0.024) and educational level (p = 0.044).
