Estudio realizado en 35 meses. Se analizaron 23 pacientes de sexo masculino con síntomas obstructivos urinarios bajos atribuibles a sospecha de lesión uretral, cuyas edades oscilaban entre los 17 y 74 años, se calculo un total de 35 estenosis uretrales. Al 100% se les realizó cistoscopia y ecografía uretral y al 60,8% uretrografía retrograda. Los hallazgos encontrados sugieren una correlación estrecha entre la severidad de la estenosis en la endoscopia y la severidad de la longitud y espesor de la espongiofibrosis; Este estudio abre una puerta para otros trabajos encaminados a determinar el papel real de la espongiofibrosis en el comportamiento de la estenosis uretral y su impacto en el tratamiento para poder cambiar la historia natural de esta enfermedad.
