La autonomía en el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras toma furor al tener como objetivo el que los estudiantes se conviertan en estudiantes de por vida, cuyo proceso no termina el día que culminan sus clases, sino que adquieran el habito de seguir trabajando con la lengua por su cuenta. El Centro de Recursos Studium apoya el desarrollo de la autonomía en los programas de lenguas ofrecidos en la universidad; al igual que en el programa desescolarizado Plan Umbrela. Esta investigación es una primera aproximación a las manifestaciones de autonomía reportadas por los estudiantes de este plan teniendo en cuenta las nuevas dimensiones identificadas en varios autores expertos en el tema y en el proceso que se espera sigan los inscritos al plan.
